VisuaLeaf v1.0.2512 Release Notes

Release Date: October 14 2026

Covers 1.0.2416 – 1.0.2512.

Headline: Data Compare for SQL, Guided Tours Everywhere, a Reworked Settings Page, and SQL You Can Trust

Data Compare now works on SQL tables, not just MongoDB collections — compare two tables, see what differs,
and sync them in either direction. Settings has been rebuilt around clear sections, and **both sidebars are
now customizable** — reorder or hide tools, pin your own shortcuts, and create databases, schemas,
collections and tables right from the sidebar. And a long run of SQL fixes means edits, exports and new
tables come out right on every engine we support — and copying a table from one SQL database to another
now keeps its real column types, keys and values on all of them.

Also shipping: guided tours across the app, a much faster Data Transfer page with many tasks, adjustable text size,
comments on Visual Schema tables, preview tabs, connection-level shells,
expressions in the MongoDB query builder, merch you can win from in-app surveys,
MongoDB 9.0 support, and crash reporting.

Data Compare (formerly Collection Compare)

What you can see

  • SQL tables in the compare editor — pair two tables, from the same engine or different ones, next to your
  • MongoDB pairs in one saved session.

  • Numbers that match really match — a 17-digit value no longer shows up as a difference just because one
  • side stores it as a decimal.

  • A simpler, canvas-only editor — the old "simple" mode is gone; everything happens on the canvas.

What you can do

  • Match two whole databases in one step — every collection is paired with its same-named partner
  • (near-matches are offered, unticked), the usual "prod vs. staging" check without clicking each pair.

  • Quick-sync SQL tables — sync writes are all-or-nothing and go in the direction you pick, so a failed
  • sync never leaves a table half-updated.

Guided Tours

What you can see

  • A help button in every feature's header — Data Compare, Data Sync, Data Transfer, the task editor, Query
  • Profiler, Schema Manager, Settings, User Management and Visual Schema each have a short walkthrough of their
own. The button glows the first time you visit, until you've taken the tour.

  • Guides and tours are easy to tell apart — the button that opens a feature's written guide now shows a
  • book, so it's no longer one question mark next to another.

What you can do

  • Take a tour whenever you like, or work through them all from the Tutorials list.
  • Tell us what you think — the last card of every tour has a comment box that comes straight to us.

Data Transfer: Table-to-Table Between Any SQL Databases

Copying a table from one SQL database to another — PostgreSQL to MySQL, SQL Server to PostgreSQL, Oracle to
ClickHouse and so on — now gives you a faithful copy. Checked on all 29 engines we support, copying into and out
of each one.

What you can see

  • Real column types in the mapping — numbers, decimals, dates, times, true/false and binary columns are
  • suggested as their proper types instead of plain text, and the source's primary key and optional columns
    are carried over.

  • Values arrive exactly as they were — dates and times with a time zone no longer shift by hours on
  • Redshift, DuckDB and Materialize; SQLite dates come back as dates; decimals from Oracle keep their digits;
dates before 1970 survive in ClickHouse.

  • Copies that used to fail now run — into MySQL, QuestDB, CrateDB and RisingWave, and from CrateDB.

What you can do

  • Work with lots of tasks without waiting — Data Transfer opens with every task's status filled in at
  • once, and with dozens of tasks on the page, creating a task is instant (it could take 6–20 seconds) and
running one finishes in about a second (it could take over a minute).

  • A quieter app in the background — leaving Data Transfer open no longer keeps the app busy checking
  • every task every few seconds, so the rest of VisuaLeaf stays responsive.

Settings & Sidebars

  • Settings rebuilt into General, Appearance, AI Providers, MCP Server, License, Storage and Diagnostics.
  • Text size — choose small, medium or large interface text under Appearance; code editors keep their own size.
  • Arrange the left sidebar — drag tool icons to reorder, right-click to hide or reset. Hidden tools stay
  • in the command palette.

  • Pin your own shortcuts — the + on the right sidebar pins up to 10 command-palette actions. Shell
  • Sessions, Current Ops and Monitor Streams now live in the command palette.

  • Create from the sidebar — new sidebar actions let you create a database, schema, collection or table.
  • "Task Manager" is now "Data Transfer", and "Migrate to Another Database…" in the database, collection
  • and table right-click menus opens Export with a database target already picked.

SQL: Edits, Exports and DDL That Work Everywhere

  • Every column type saves — bigint, decimal and money keep every digit; UUIDs, intervals, enums, arrays,
  • JSON and JSONB save as typed across PostgreSQL, DuckDB, H2, HSQLDB, CrateDB, RisingWave and more.

  • Dates and times show the stored value — no more DATE appearing as the evening before, or shifted times
  • on DuckDB, SQL Server, Oracle, QuestDB and ClickHouse.

  • Editing several cells on RisingWave no longer keeps only the last one.
  • Create Table, indexes, databases and table edits produce valid SQL on every engine.
  • SQL dumps restore into any engine, and large tables export without loading the whole table into memory.
  • Queries run exactly as written — a filter the engine can't apply now shows an error instead of quietly
  • returning more rows than you asked for.

  • Query builder — joins and more operators work correctly, columns can be given aliases, and QuestDB
  • numeric ranges are written correctly.

  • SQL connections appear right away in the sidebar, even on a cold start or with several windows open.

Improvements

Workspace & Tabs

  • Preview tabs — single-click in the connection tree opens a preview tab, the way VS Code opens a file;
  • editing or double-clicking makes it permanent.

  • Collection Statistics / Tables Info open the collection or table in the same tab, and never close a
  • tab with unsaved changes.

  • Split panels and the popped-out document viewer behave correctly.

MongoDB Query Builder

  • Expressions — build conditions with expressions, such as comparing one field to another in the same
  • document, right in the visual query builder.

Shell

  • Connection-level shells — open a shell without choosing a database first; the tab follows use.
  • Collections created from the shell show up in the sidebar.

Visual Schema

  • Comments on tables and columns, shown in HTML export.
  • Enum support, cleaner table cards and a more complete HTML export.

Data Transfer

  • Pause, resume and stop work reliably; task mappings keep their column types on every SQL engine.
  • Tasks have a refreshed look, including the single-task view.

SQL Results

  • An empty table or result still shows its columns, so you can see its shape before there's any data in it.

General

  • Lower CPU use, and a much faster connection tree.
  • $elemMatch queries and JSON Schema validation fixed; validation errors now say what's wrong.
  • Duplicate column names in results are handled correctly.
  • Connection strings with spaces in them now connect.
  • A new Data Compare stop in the left-sidebar tour, plus an updated Getting Started guide.
  • A refreshed splash screen — Your data, made visual.
  • In-app surveys — answer a short survey for a spin of the reward wheel, where you can win VisuaLeaf merch,
  • free Pro days or a discount code; check for new ones from the macOS menu.

Infrastructure

  • MongoDB 9.0 support via an updated driver.
  • Security: the desktop backend now listens only on your own machine, not on the local network. Text
  • containing markup in search highlights is shown as text and can no longer run as HTML.

  • Crash reports — choose whether to send them under Settings › Diagnostics, where recent reports are also listed.
  • Trial changes apply without signing out — when your admin extends, ends or grants a trial, the app picks
  • it up the next time it checks your licence — on launch, hourly, when the window comes back into focus, or
when you press Refresh in Settings.

  • Expanded usage and licence-health telemetry (including time idle), and more error detail sent back to us.

Notes

  • Saved sessions that mention "Task Manager" are renamed to "Data Transfer" automatically.
  • Shell Sessions, Current Ops and Monitor Streams moved off the right sidebar — find them in ⌘K, or pin them
  • back with +.

  • SQL-to-SQL tasks created in the previous few versions may have every column set to text, or every column
  • required. Open the task, click Generate Field Mappings, and save. If a run already created the target
table with the wrong columns, run once with Drop & Insert so it's created again.
